Can you remember what this is called and what it is used for?
It's a bathing hut! In the Victorian times, people would use these huts to change into bathing suits that they had rented (borrowed for some money).
The clothes people wore to the seaside was also different. Victorians would wear clothes that would cover their bodies and called their costumes 'bathing gowns'.
Did you know...Victorian men and women would swim in separate parts of the beach.
Women would wear bathing gowns that would go all the way down to their knees or ankle. Sometimes, they would even have weights put into the hem to stop it from rising in the water!
Men would wear a one-piece swimming costume, with a shirt and shorts attached together.
What do we wear to the seaside now? Is it the same or different as the Victorian times?
Draw a costume from a person going to the beach now and a costume for a Victorian person.
